Case Study #2

Alison

Alison is 26 years old and has no understanding of financial management at all.

She wants to understand how to better manage the money she is making, including how she can make it grow to have a strong base for her future.

The financial outcomes she wanted to achieve

She wanted help trying to understand things like how the stock market works, what types of accounts are available to her and how to use them (e.g., Roth versus Traditional IRA and 401K). Alison also wanted help with budgeting, organizing her finances and financial accounts, investment strategy, and building an initial financial plan.

Basically all of the things she wasn’t taught in school.

How we helped

Over the course of six months, we helped Alison get organized. We helped her understand the different accounts and how to manage them, what an investment strategy looked like, and how to budget.

We also supported Alison to build her initial financial plan.

We are also helping her with building a simple estate plan including writing a will and health care/financial power of attorney. As a young woman now living on her own she needs these in place for her long term security should anything happen to her.

Where she is now

Alison has a strong grasp of financial planning and is budgeting and meeting her goals of having money to invest for her long-term future. She is putting in place all of the things she needs for financial security.
